After leaving with snow on the ground and being rained on in Vicksburg, Biloxi is a welcome relief although it is cold here for them. About 50 and sunny today for Fat Tuesday. We attended 2 parades here this afternoon and over to Gulfport for a night parade. We really didn't want to collect very many beads, but you just can't help yourself, especially Fred!!! Rosa, you won't believe how many are left on the ground. They throw huge amounts!! And if these people don't catch them in their hands, they just leave them on the ground. I guess they are so used to this, that it is no big deal. We arrived about 2 hrs. before this parade to stake out our spot. Oh, the people watching. Dressing up seems to be really big. Men dress up like women and wear wigs. Girls wear their underwear on top of their clothes. Some dress in really low-cut tops with short skirts--must help them get more beads.
Notice this girl smoking---she is in the parade! These men with the bunches of flowers gave them out if you would give them a peck on the cheek. I got one!!!
I don't know the significance of this monkey, but she certainly got more beads thrown her way.
Notice the girls in the green hat---her panties are on the outside. Isn't she cute? Everybody was Really Happy by the time the night parade began.
