Stacey's 60th Birthday Tea

My best friend Stacey has finally caught up to me and is now 60. Her daughter Meredith and I game her a tea party at my house last Saturday. At 9:00 AM Fred delivered her hat to her at home. That was surprise #1. She chose the guest list. However, Meredith invited some friends from Lubbock and so Stacey had a big surprise #2 and a good cry when Suzanne and Talana appeared.

Stacey and her friend Suzanne from Lubbock enjoy their tea.

Kristi and Brittany both teach 4th grade with Stacey.

Lisa and Gwen both worked with Stacey at other schools.

The whole group--Janice, Lisa, Kristi, Pam, Suzanne, Stacey, Meredith, Gwen, Brittany, and Talana.

Meredith and I had so much fun planning this. Stacey is always talking about going to tea and we never plan it. So we had our own. She absolutely loves pimiento cheese, scones, and sand tarts so those were definitely a part of the menu. I learned to make scones and Meredith made her first sand tarts. (Paula Deen's recipe, of course) We also had chicken salad on croissants, parmesan cheese rolls, mini quiche, banana nut bread, and a yummy birthday cake from Frisco.
We brewed English Breakfast tea and passion fruit tea to begin. I got out my china and Mother's china and teapots. Then we had almond tea (extra sweet tea) and sunrise punch with champagne to go with the cake. We all dressed up and had on our hats. I had so much fun shopping for vintage hats here in the shops and then decorating them with flowers and feathers. Just like little girls playing tea party!!! After the tea, we played games and Stacey opened her gifts.

Stacey, Meredith, and Janice

Stacey got lots of great gifts---picture frames, beads, silver bracelet, knife set, and here she is opening up my gift---sexy black bra and leopard panties!

We had so much fun and have decided that we need to do tea more often--even if there are only 2 or 3 of us together----maybe out by the pool this summer.

Fishing on Tawakoni

Fred and his fishing buddy, Joe, went with a guide for a couple of days on Lake Tawakoni to learn how to fish for the really BIG CATFISH. The first day they only caught smaller ones. The second day, they caught the big ones ranging in size from 37 lbs. to 16 lbs. WHAT FUN FOR THEM !!!! They came home so excited--you can tell by looking at their faces.

Fred caught the most with a 36 lbs, an 18 lbs. and a 16 lbs. fish.

Joe caught the largest one at 37 lbs.

Here are the boys with the ones they brought in. The big ones were released. Now they think they can try this on their own since they have learned the technique. So they are off early in the morning to give it a try before the next cold front.

Merry Christmas 2009

We spent Christmas at home with John (my son) and Sam (my brother). After our Breakfast Casserole and Coffee, we had a fun morning opening gifts.
John and I always enjoy the stockings.

Fred looks for something special in his. (probably a gift card to Bass Pro---his favorite gift of all time!!)

Tex can always make a toy out of anything, even the wrappings which he can really make a mess with. He got new toys, but he likes this best of all.

We had our traditional Christmas Dinner of Smoked Turkey and Dressing, Corn, Green Beans, Fruit Salad, and Yeast Rolls. We had Chocolate Pie and Pecan Pie for dessert but had to save that for after our naps.

My Aunt Preby

Aunt Preby who lives in Longview is the only aunt that I have left. She is my Mom's baby sister and everyone has always said that I look more like her than my mom. Fred and I visited her before Christmas and we all went to our favorite Mexican place, Papacitas ( not like the chain here--this one is SO MUCH BETTER!!!) We always enjoy our visits with her.
